Q’S BAR AND LOUNGE BY LEGENDARY MUSIC PRODUCER QUINCY JONES MAKES ITS WORLDWIDE DEBUT AT PALAZZO VERSACE DUBAI
Drum roll, please for the first music acts – award-winning drummer Ollie Howell, and Swedish pop-fusion group, Dirty Loops.
15th November 2016, Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Q’s, Quincy Jones’ first ever bar featuring world-class live music in an intimate bar and lounge, is set to open on 16th November at Palazzo Versace Dubai. Kicking off the spectacular schedule of acts with Ollie Howell, award-winning drummer and next generation star, and pop-fusion super group, Dirty Loops; Q’s bar will put Dubai on the musical map.
Quincy needs no formal introduction, with a career spanning six decades and who has collaborated with legendary music icons including Frank Sinatra, Amy Winehouse, Ray Charles, Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan and most famously, Michael Jackson. With twenty-seven Grammys, seven Academy Award nominations, an Emmy, a Tony, and an induction in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Quincy Jones is arguably the most influential man in the business and is now bringing a slice of his legacy to Palazzo Versace Dubai.
Q’s will make guests feel at home within an intimate living room space decked out with plush furniture and mahogany tables facing the vibrant stage. The venue will be a destination for high-quality comfort food stirred by New York and New Orleans culinary culture and a wide selection of fine and rare beverages in the FROW to the finest music acts complemented by unmatched acoustics.
The first handpicked group to grace the Q’s stage is multi-award winning drummer, instrumentalist, composer, producer and broadcaster – Ollie Howell, will take his place as the official artist in residence and is scheduled to perform through February. While receiving his honorary doctorate at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Howell has made a huge impact on the industry internationally, impressing audiences all over the world. His first album, Sutures and Stitches, received critical acclaim from the likes of The Guardian and MOJO, claiming his music “has delicious dynamic flow and an almost elegiac beauty.”
Quincy Jones said: “Ollie Howell is an unbelievable drummer. So creative, I couldn’t believe it. This kid really is a 360-degree, beautiful young cat that I believe has what it takes to make a life out of music.”
As a special guest surprise, Sweden’s best kept secret, Dirty Loops, will be playing at the grand opening party. The next night, on the 9th December, Dirty Loops will be performing to 60 limited guests for AED 3,000 per person, which will include a three-course dinner and select beverages at Enigma restaurant and bar drinks and petit fours at Q’s.
Known for their viral YouTube videos, Dirty Loops burst onto the music scene with their twisted pop covers and have garnered upwards of 19 million YouTube views. Shortly after gaining recognition for their inventive covers, the group was discovered by Andreas Carlsson and David Foster and began releasing original music such as their latest album, Loopified. Since then, they’ve garnered a long list of fans including Stevie Wonder, Adam Levine, Dallas Austin, Rodney Jerkins, Brian McKnight, and Avicii. Quincy Jones has high praises for them, stating “they are such an incredible and inventive group; I absolutely cannot wait until Dubai gets a taste!”
Located in Palazzo Versace Dubai’s West Wing, Q’s is open from Monday to Friday 6pm to 2am.
